Job Description:
Welder with 5 or more years’ experience in welding GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux cored Arc Welding). The Welder must pass one of the two tests for employment and successfully complete the other within 90 days. The welder should also be able to fabricate piping systems, pressure vessels and in occasions, weld structural members, beams and other components.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and measuring tape
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using GMAW, FCAW, or TIG welding processes
- Cuts workpiece, using oxy-acetylene torches and/or plasma
- Able to Air Carbon Arc Gouge
- Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper
- Welds components in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
- Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts
- Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of basic metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques
- Five or more years of welding experience on drilling rigs and associated equipment
